Update 9/25/13: My Top Roles & Some Trip Report Stuff from August 2013!!

Hey there! Here's a quick update on where I'm at with the Disney College Program. So applications for my program should be coming out in February, and I am way too excited, if you can't tell! Disney has been emailing me telling me to apply for the Spring Program, which is just adding to the excitement. Every time I see an email from them telling me to apply for the Spring, I just want to respond with, "I know Disney, I really want to! Just make time move faster for me!" I've been struggling lately with whether or not I want to apply for Fall or Fall Advantage. (Fall = August to January, Fall Advantage = May/June to January). It's difficult because this will probably be my only chance to do the college program, so I really want to be there for as long as I can--meaning I really want to do Fall Advantage. There are a couple of problems with this though. As of right now, I'm not making much money. The job I was going to have during the school year didn't end up working out, so I'm just working very part time at my school's library, which doesn't exactly add up to much. I work at a museum on the Freedom Trail in Boston when I'm home from school, which makes a lot more money than my library job. I'm planning on working there during all of my school breaks, but I'm not sure that will save me as much money as I'd really like to move down there for the college program. I figure I will also have my tax return to take down with me, so I won't be broke my any means, but I would like to go down there with a decent chunk of money saved up. I also graduate on May 17th, which means my graduation party will be some time after that. And graduation parties mean $$$ which I can bring to Disney. My mom also won a free cruise from a casino, so we're planning on doing that in either late May or early June. This all means that the logical thing to do is spend the summer at home, and head down to the DCP in the Fall, but I WANT TO DO IT SO BAD AND LEAVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! So that's the conflict with the Fall/Fall Advantage stuff. I'll keep you updated on whether or not I do the responsible thing, or just go absolutely crazy and leave as soon as I can.

My top roles for this program: Vacation Planner! I think if I were to stay with Disney, this role would be most easily transferred to some kind of a career for me. I would love to work in Guest Services or do a Guest Services Internship eventually with Disney. Main Entrance Operations is my second choice, because I would like to be one of the first cast members guests interact with when they enter the park, and give them a great first impression. The parking lot stuff doesn't bother me any, and I've heard you can easily work in crowd control for parades too. My third choice is Merchandise, nothing particularly jumps out at me about it, but I would be okay with it. I have a lot of retail experience, so I would feel very comfortable with it, and I've heard its easy to pick up shifts.

Instead of doing a full trip report here, since this blog is meant for my DCP experiences, I thought I'd give a quick summary and show some pictures of my last trip to Disney in August.

I was in Walt Disney World from August 18-23, with my roommate, Theresa, to celebrate her 21st birthday! We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter (my first time staying there), and loved it.

On to the pictures!

Here we are our first day in Disney! (Our flight landed at 9 AM, we were in Epcot by 11)

Here's our dinner that night-- we both ordered the same thing, the shrimp noodles from Kona Cafe. Can't wait to eat here during the DCP!

My favorite picture of us from the trip! Theresa's birthday in Hollywood Studios-- she got delicious smores with a birthday candle for dessert at 50's Prime Time!

Theresa and I with some post-birthday drinks at Grand Floridian Cafe!

But I know what you're all looking forward to most is Gaston... If you're not looking forward to Gaston the most, you clearly haven't been to New Fantasyland yet, or you're a guy who's intimidated by his muscles. Cue the Gaston pictures!!

Best character interaction ever BY FAR. We even went back another day to see Gaston again, but I might save those pictures for another post.

OH! I almost forgot, I started a vlog, so i'll be posting those videos here too. The first one is at the end of this post, and I apologize for the horrendous quality of the video. I don't know if it's my laptop, or maybe the slow internet connection at my school or what, but the quality is really bad, so sorry about that!

Thanks for reading! And don't forget to feel free to contact me about anything DCP related!
